Learning to Fly

An excerpt from the great Tom Petty song:

"Well some say life will beat you down
Break your heart, steal your crown
So I started out for God knows where
But I guess I'll know when I get there

Im learning to fly around the clouds
But what goes up must come down

Im learning to fly but I aint got wings
Comin down is the hardest thing
Im learning to fly around the clouds
But what goes up must come down

Im learning to fly"

A few people have asked me why I have not posted in the last few days. I have just been feeling low....both physically and emotionally, and did not feel as though I had anything good to say. I had some friends over for dinner last night which definitely lifted my spirits. As most of you know, one of my passions is cooking and it makes me happy and is a great stress reliever. I made some homemade salsa and guacamole for nibblies and then a shrimp and dorado risotto for the main course. It was a great evening with good friends. Although my small apartment is not really set up for entertaining, we all squeezed on my balcony and ate by candlelight. It was cozy but seemed to work out alright.

I am heading to yoga tonight so that should help me feel more balanced. Also, I have my second visitor coming on Sunday for one week! I am starting to get excited - three more sleeps!

Yes, three more sleeps!! I bought a bag of "salmon strips" for Jackson and his new girlfriend, only to get home and realize that they contain brown rice. Not sure what was wrong with me. Needless to say, BoBo and Miko are super happy that the strips are coming out of the backpack and now sitting on the kitchen counter.

Brown rice is fine - it is just wheat and corn that are an issue.

Are you getting excited?

Yes, I wish I could leave tomorrow morning (well, esp. since I'm all packed!). That's great he can have brown rice, those strips look yummy! I'll just wait till the girls are out to sneak it back into my backpack :-)

Hello again, I am so sorry you are not feeling well. I wonder if you are experiencing some saddness from the loss of your relationship (I am no expert)but "been there done that". Most likely you know this. I sincerely hope you will feel better soon. What are your plans for a finding a new job?

Corrinne - yes, the fact that I am not feeling well is likely all driven by the emotional roller coaster I have been on. I am hopeful that will get better in time. As for the job, I am starting intensive Spanish classes early September with the goal of becoming fluent or as close to it. After that, I plan on looking for a job and hopefully should be more employable once I am bi-lingual. In addition, I am meeting with the head of the pet charity organization here to discuss a large project that I may get involved in.

Rambunctious - thank you very much for reading and I am very happy that you enjoy it. Thanks for the mention and I will definitely check out your blog.
