Today, I remember

First, I want to thank you all for the e-mails, phone calls, texts, etc. I truly appreciate all of your support and it really helped lift me up. I am doing better thanks to all of you.

Today would have been my mom's birthday. I am going to go to her final resting place on the beach this afternoon. I will remember all of our good times, the special moments and all the many things that made her special. There are SO many wonderful memories.

Here she is in Manzanillo with myself and many of her girlfriends. That was a crazy trip girls! Remember that crazy earthquake?

Here we are cheering on the Calgary Flames during play-off time

The infamous surprise trip to San Francisco for her 50th birthday

And of course, she is the one hamming it up in the glasses at our family reunion

At the Calgary zoo

Friendships and family were of the utmost importance to Mom. She had this amazing ability to bring out the best in everyone. She was able to bring people out of their shells and help them realize who they truly are. There are so many people that had special connections or bonds with Mom. She had this amazing ability to reach people and make them feel as though they had always known her.
We are all better people because of her. And I know that each of our special memories with her will always be in our hearts.

Here she is on the beach with myself and a number of our friends. This is one of my favorite photos.

Today, I remember my mom, my best friend.

Welcome back girl. Good to see you posting again. I'm glad you have such wonderful memories of your Mom. It is a pity that we don't realize just how precious those times are until they are no longer with us.

Meanwhile, get on with your life. You only have one of those, you know.

I've been wanting to send you a message of support since your last post but I couldn't find the time. Sorry about that!
After reading your last post, though, I thought I'd quickly send you a HELLO!
I was also spurred into action because my mother's birthday was Oct 20, so I have a really good idea what you were feeling like for those few days. For me, I shed a few tears and thought a lot about my mother and how she loved to hear about my travels. I really do feel she is still with me as I'm sure you feel you mother is still with you. Before I start to get teary eyed again I'll leave on a high note.
Well, my friend, stay strong. You're doing a great job down there and you're living the life! I really do admire you!

I'll be passing through Manzanillo in the next month or so, so a beer will be in order!

Beautiful post and a great tribute to your Mom. You were very lucky to have had a wonderful mother but it takes a bit of time to adjust to being without her in your everyday life. You will - it just takes time.

Mother's Day 2010 passed yesterday. A tough day for you no doubt.

No attempt at platitudes by me, just the thought that there are people who are concerned by your silence.

And, a reminder that there are other people here who, like yourself, are basically alone.

Perhaps becoming a bit more accessible might be an answer?
